Terms of Service

Welcome to InJapan Connect. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the InJapan Connect app and website (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Plain-language summary: Use the app respectfully, don't post illegal or harmful content, treat other users well, and understand that we provide a platform — we don't guarantee jobs, housing, or AI advice. Use at your own discretion.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use InJapan Connect. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization (e.g., as an employer), you confirm that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Your account

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it up to date.
  • You may not impersonate another person, business, or organization.

3. Acceptable use

When using InJapan Connect, you agree NOT to:

  • Post content that is illegal, fraudulent, threatening, harassing, defamatory, hateful, discriminatory, or sexually explicit.
  • Post fake job listings, scam offers, or fraudulent housing listings.
  • Solicit money or services in exchange for visa sponsorship, recommendation letters, or other immigration favors.
  • Share misleading information about employers, schools, or other users.
  • Violate Japanese immigration or labor law (e.g., promoting work that exceeds visa restrictions like the 28-hour student limit).
  • Spam, send unsolicited promotional messages, or scrape data from the Service.
  • Attempt to access another user's account or any non-public parts of the system.
  • Use the Service to recruit users for purposes that violate Japanese law.
  • Upload viruses, malware, or any code intended to disrupt the Service.

4. Content you post

You retain ownership of the content you post (posts, comments, photos, profile information). However, by posting, you grant InJapan Connect a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content within the Service. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that may remain in backups for a limited time.

You are responsible for your content. We do not endorse user content and are not liable for it. We may, but are not obligated to, remove content that violates these Terms.

5. Jobs, housing, and referrals

InJapan Connect provides a platform for users to share information about jobs, housing, and other opportunities. We do NOT:

  • Guarantee that any job, housing offer, or referral is genuine.
  • Verify the credentials of employers or landlords listed by users.
  • Take responsibility for the outcome of applications or arrangements made through the Service.

You should verify employers, landlords, and other users independently before making any commitments, sending money, or sharing sensitive documents.

6. AI features disclaimer

The AI guide, AI career coach, and interview prep features provide general information generated by language models (OpenAI). These features are NOT:

  • Legal, immigration, financial, medical, or professional advice.
  • A substitute for consulting a licensed lawyer, immigration agent, tax accountant, or other qualified professional.

AI responses may be inaccurate or out of date. For decisions with significant consequences (e.g., visa applications, financial commitments), always verify with official sources or a qualified professional.

7. Advertising

The Service displays advertisements provided by Google AdSense and other partners. We do not endorse advertised products or services. Any transaction or interaction with an advertiser is solely between you and the advertiser.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the profile settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, behave in a way that harms other users, or for any other reason at our reasonable discretion. We will provide notice where practical.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, InJapan Connect and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless InJapan Connect, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or your use of the Service.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of Fukuoka, Japan, unless local consumer protection laws provide otherwise.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective date" above. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Service and delete your account.
